Although produced for preservation, these paper folders - encrusted  in these works with acidic glue and powdered salt, paprika, sulfur, and lamp black will eventually disintegrate.

Desk and Hand, April, 1993: iron, salt; 32” x 36” x 24”; 1993; at the Chicago Cultural Center, 2002.
The rust from the iron desk penetrates the salt hand, and salt from the hand corrodes the metal, resulting in a very gradual disintegration.
